MORE ITALIA!Gladiators, ready!Airbnb welcomed the recent Gladiator movie sequel by offering a ‘gladiator experience’ to anyone interested in following the footsteps of the Colosseum’s ancient combatants. Prospective gladiators were able to apply online, and the lucky ones selected for the experience will step into the arena in May. The travel platform outlined what participants could expect from this unique experience, including descending into the underground chambers of the hypogeum to prepare for battle, donning the attire of one of the types of gladiators (murmillo, provocator, retiarius thraex or contrarete) and then learning the moves they would have used in combat before facing off against fellow warriors.
